I love this city. I think I ought to move here.
Friday we went to a park. They have a couple of those here. This one was over on the Rio de la Plata, which in Buenos Aires is more like a really long bay thing, going out to the ocean. We were near the port: lots of enormous machinery and so forth to entertain me. And the park was pretty cool. It was weird because we were there on a pretty cool spring day but there were all these palm tree type of plants. And lots of birds, including a couple that looked like swans with black necks and heads. It was pretty.
Saturday afternoon we went to one of the 5 neighborhood assemblies in Floresta. It's in a plaza about 5 or 6 blocks north of here. It was cool--a bunch of people from the neighborhood were there. Their current project is changing the name of the plaza and the street it's on, because it's named after some police chief during the dictatorship who was responsible for shooting a bunch of people in the 70s.
Saturday night, or more acurately sunday morning, we went out. Becky wins some serious prizes for party-finding this weekend. The place was in Palermo, which is in theory trendy, but we weren't really in the trendy part, i guess. We were in some random building, no exterior signs of life when we walked by a little after midnight, but of course that was way too early. So we went and found a restaurant and got fried sweet potatoes and drinks and sat there for a while. It should be noted that there were people who appeared to be eating dinner there at 1 AM, including a family. And we ran into a couple groups of 13-year-old guys walking around. Weird, weird, weird. But in any event, when we went back at 2, the random door was the entrance to a sort of club. We payed our 5 pesos each and enjoyed some really incredible hard house and hard trance till 7 AM.
Reason #584 I don't want to leave.
